*DISCLAIMER: I point this out all the time but I like to be transparent; this review isn't really going to focus too much on the quality of the "Batman: Arkham" games featured in this collection. If you want to know my opinions on the games by themselves, you can find their reviews on my profile*
Pros:
- The games themselves are great, which adds some value to the package.
- Having them both on modern platforms makes them easily accessible.
- Nice to have a touch of visual improvement.
- The gameplay of both is as good as you remember.
- Good for those that have never played the games before.
- Getting both games and all of the DLC for less than full price is much appreciated.
Cons:
- Not a whole lot of new/extra/supplemental content for returning players.
- The actual remastering job is VERY slight, to the point where it's not worth it if you already have the games on PC or 360/PS3.
- Some of the visual changes might actively annoy hardcore fans that played the games before.
Consensus: It should be obvious, but that score is very heavily lifted by the sheer quality of the games included here. "Batman: Return to Arkham" is only really recommended for those who have either A. never played the game before, or B. don't want to play it on a last-gen console. The actual remastering job is minuscule at best, and there's nothing new here as far as bonus content to entice returning players to purchase the game again. They are still great games, and having the first two "Batman: Arkham" titles on modern consoles with all the DLC for less than full price is quite a deal. But if you're looking for the new "definitive version" of the first two games, you're not gonna find that here. First-time players are encouraged to grab this, but if you already own the games on PC or PlayStation 3/Xbox 360, just stick to those versions.
Final rating: 7 out of 10 "Good"
