One of the most painful Batman Games Ever

User Rating: 5.5 | Batman Returns LYNX
In the annals of Comic Book History the Dark Knight is second only to Superman in terms of popularity. However in terms of Video Games, Batman has faired a lot better then Superman, yet there are still Batman games that just fail to make the cut, and Batman Returns for the Atari Lynx is one of them.

On the positive side, the graphics are quite good for a hand held system and the sound quality actually is fiarly clear, and the game's storyline actually follows the movie it is baised on rather well, dispite leaving certain central characters, like Catwoman's Alter Ego Selena Kyle, and Batman and Catwoman's romance out.

On the downside, many of Batman Return's problems stem from the Lynx itself, which is essentually the size of the Xbox360's Brick and just as heavy. The controls in the game are some what crippled, and this is owing in part to the Lynx including four B and A buttons, while the B buttons Jump and the A buttons attack, the presence of the extra set of B and A buttons can cause confusion during game play. Another flaw the game has is it's lack of power-ups, for most of the game you are fighting enemies with your fists, and constantly taking hits from dynamite and punches, and to make matters worse it's very rare to find a power up to restore your health bar or upgrade your weapons.

Overall Batman Returns is a fairly straight forward Beat-em-Up and the Lynx verson will appeal to collectors, but it should be known that there are better versons of the game out there.
