Battlefield 1942 + Frostbite Engine = Bad Company set in WWII (a.k.a. Battlefield 1943)

User Rating: 9.5 | Battlefield 1943 PS3
This game delivers just what the developers have been showing us for as long as they have. It is an excellent addition to the Battlefield series though short as it is. With only 3 playable maps so far (4th one coming once 45 million kills are achieved on the PS3 platform), the combat can get a little monotonous. But it is great nonetheless. The weapons are more affective than I expected, and the points rack up fairly quickly while playing.
As far as gameplay goes, this game is almost a carbon copy of Bad Company, except it's set in WWII Pacific theater. Graphics are great and the Frostbite engine really delivers with the fully destructible environment. Each map has it's own advantages and disadvantages such as one is a fairly flat map (Wake Island), that allows lots of flying and tank warfare. Gaudacanal allows for lots of sniper advantage and IWO Jima allows for tank warefare. I may have gotten those last two maps reversed in description, but you get the point.
Had some serious issues at first with getting the game to play. I downloaded and installed the game just fine the day it came out, but I wasn't able to even play until two days later. As with almost any EA game for the PS3, when logging in for the first time, it tries to link with your PSN account, and messes lots of things up. This time it kept failing to log in, rendering the game totally useless since its completely online. But an EA support guy fixed the problem for me, so I'm very grateful.

Overall, very good multiplayer FPS with room to grow (i.e. additional maps). I will probably get it for the PC as well once it comes out for it.
