A great port of a great game just at times feels too condensed

User Rating: 8.5 | Battlefield 1943 X360
I played the hell out of the original Battlefield 1942 and I could not wait for a solid remake and my prayers were answered yet at times the game feels a little too condensed to actually be in league with its older brothers

STORY:
there isn't one its a strictly multiplayer game you just relive 4 maps(coral sea is unlocked 360 made it to 43,000,000 frags) based on actual battles in WW II

GAMEPLAY:
this is where the game both shines and falls a little bit the game plays out exactly like the original it has the same 3 maps we are used to playing (Guadalcanal,IwoJima, and Wake Island) and 1 new map (coral sea) and conquest mode (where you have limited spawns and you capture spawn points and if you hold more than the enemy then they lose spawns quicker) and the maps are recreated with care everything you remember about the maps are there and about 75% of everything is destructible yet the battleships they took those out but the aircraft carriers are still in the game

Now there is only 3 classes to pick from and each have a uniqueness about them and this is where the game falls a little bit the first class is the anti-infantry rifleman he really has nothing going for him he just can take out infantry with his rifle and grenade attachment faster than any class then there is the solider class this is a weird one they carry a automatic weapon and bazooka and can repair vehicles and I don't know this class seems to sporadic either I'm shooting soldiers or tanks and then have to repair my fellow soldier's tanks there is just too much going on especially in the heat of the battle finally the sniper class they have a very good and fair sniper (it un-scopes after you shoot) but they also have demolition packs and can lay traps now for some odd reason this seems to weird for me its always weird being a sniper but before you can snipe you have to lay down some dynamite packs usually by the front lines instead of hiding in the back I think they could have added a engineering class that could handle anti-vehicles and laying mines but that's just me

Another thing the game falls a little bit in is the maps are too big for 12 vs 12 now I might sound picky but the maps back then were big because there were a ton of people fighting on it now at times I walk for a long time trying to capture a spawn point and its longer than it has to be and no enemy soldiers in sight at times the game seems to drag on and you are like almost bored finding no resistance as you capture 3 more points because the rest of their team is all the way on the other side doing the same long walk I just wish that they added more players into it like 24 vs 24 would have been much more better or even 18 vs 18

Yet the game is fun and when it does pick up its always fun when you are trying to capture a spawn point and a enemy bomber bombs the area takes out half your team and you see a tank coming towards you and for some odd reason that never gets old when you see a enemy aircraft explode and spiral and land 30 ft away from you and no matter how many times you see it you will still cheer and there is a epic special attack in the game its called a air raid you jump into a special bunker call it and you control 3 slow moving bombers that the enemy team can destroy and you drop a ton of bombs wherever you want and its just a epic attack and even more epic when your on the ground and you see a tank and enemies coming towards you and the bombs hit them

Finally its a strictly multiplayer game so that means you have to endure what all multiplayer games do bad in like if you have a bad team prepare for frustration also there is some spawn camping and some people like to camp in front of the air raid bunker so you can never have a chance or some people camp at the air craft carrier so they won't help you fight but wait for another air plane but I did notice something that bothered me the tanks you control don't have splash damage...what I mean is after you fire a tank shell it just has no affect anywhere but the area you shot it to meaning I shot it next to an infantry he won't be hurt so at times the tanks feel a bit weak..but not its machine gun that chops up the infantry

Graphics:
the graphics are great they pretty much match almost any main stream game the explosions, fires, smoke, gun detail, are great I can't find a flaw really maybe some clipping issues but that's it really

Audio:
The audio is great too you can tell they put a boat load of effort into it the guns sound loud when inside a house, the bombs sound loud when they hit, when a plane passes you by it sounds so real the sound is just great

Pro's
Only 15 dollars, the same battlefield game we all love, great graphics and audio, the maps are fun to play on and remade with care, the new air raid is fun, some epic moments in the game will force you to cheer, very competitive but in the fun way, once again only 15 dollars!!!!!, the squad mode from Bad company is back, the sniper is very fair and needs skill, coral sea is fun

Con's
maps are too big for 12 vs 12, could have added another class so the solider and sniper class would feel less cluttered, spawn camping, no splash damage from the tanks or bombs from airplanes, if you have a bad team prepare for a bad time, machine guns take too long to kill a person, playing the same 3 maps over and over again gets a little tiresome(coral sea is only for a special air superiority mode), not everything is destructible

Overall:
I find this game really fun and frantic and even though it has its share of problems I remember that I only paid 15 dollars and it has the production and fun values of a major big budget games and sit back and enjoy it
