Bottom-Line: The Price is Right, but it could have been so much more...

I enjoy all of the older Battlefield games. I loved the original 1942 and played it endlessly. I was excited when I heard that 1943 was coming out and, most importantly, the price is $15!

Unfortunately, I was expecting something different then what I played several years ago. The fact of the matter is that the game is exactly the same as it was back then, it just looks prettier. I can't really complain about that, since the price tag would reflect a carbon copy of the original, just graphically updated. I won't blame that on the developers, I'll just blame my ignorance.

A few specific issues I have with the game:

Vehicles are not controlled as easily as they should have been. I'm used to playing the PC version and the console migration may not be as smooth as I would have hoped, but I felt they could have worked with the controls a little bit more.

The ranking system is irrelevant. At least in the Call of Duty series, the ranks mean something. Here they're just a picture and a different title. They should have at least added some sort of benefit to the ranks, otherwise they just get lost in the fodder.

There are only a handful of maps and all of them are remakes from the original game. I would have hoped to seen a few new ones. At the very least, ship with a half-dozen maps or more. The repetitive nature of the maps has already gotten old and I'm only 30+ matches into the game.

The trophies are too simple to obtain. I'm someone who loves the trophy system and has spent many hours getting the platinum trophies in some of the toughest games available. I was disappointed when I almost completed all the trophies in a few hours. I would have hoped the trophies would have been thought through.

With all that said, the game is still a great value at $15 and I may be too critical since I'm challenging it's merits as if it was a full $60 title. I will not highly recommend it, but I highly suggest you play the trial as long it will let you, before you drop the $15 on the game.
