While a decent PS2 FPS this game is unrepresentative of the Battlefield Dyanasty

As pc FPS fan whose been dying for a solid FPS on PS2, I've gobbled up every opportunity made availible at every corner. And lets just say, I've been constantly setting myself up for dissapointment. The last console shooter I enjoyed was lil' miss Joanna Dark on N64 (sorry, halo just didnt do it for me). But while BLACK this is not, Battlefield Two offers a well-rounded shot at bringing its franchise to the console.

One of the most inovative (and I think necessary for the Battlefield Series) features is hot swapping. If you find you've spawned too far from the action, or want a different arsenal of weapons, simply aim at the ally you'd like to control and, like Agent Smith from the Matrix, port to him.

The second bonus is the stats. With great stats comes added improvement in weaponry. Like bigger clips and more weapons. I enjoy being rewarded for great aim and saving teamates.

As you can see, I've only played about 5-6 hrs of the game and I must say it has some appeal. The game moves at a rapid pace, with smooth graphics and above average sound. The missions are long enough to be intriguing but short enough to conquer. And when I turn the console off, I've enjoyed the experience.

BUT . . .
The biggest critique out there (and I found it to hold quite true) is that you will clear a room or an area of 4-5 bad guys, only to be machine gunned down by the guy spawning in the opposite corner. While many battlefielders may say "that's just part of the game" its 10 times worse than the PC editions. There no spawning points to capture in order to cease the spawning and the bad guys don't always come from allies or doorways. SO the worst thing to do is run after bad guys where they spawn because you'll be cornered faster that GW Bush at an anti-war rally.

I'm a big fan of two player action either coo or death match and this game only offers online play. Foolish.

And i don't mean to pick at small potatos, but if you are in dire straights to switch your weapon to avoid death, forget it! It involve moving your trigger finger from R1 to R2, holding it down, and using your directional analog to pick your weapon, (which also causes you to stand STILL as you're being mowed down, trying to find a weapon.) This is a very frustating process combined with flaw #`1 mentioned above and it will be a test of your patience.
