Best multiplayer on a military shooter since Battlefield 2

User Rating: 9.5 | Battlefield 3 PS3
I have been a fan of Battlefield since Battlefield 2 for the PC was released. I did end up buying the Bad Company spin-offs and Battlefield 3 for console because I only have a laptop and it is able to handle Battlefield 2, but not the later ones. I am saving up the money to build a great gaming computer, so I can enjoy Battlefield 3 in all it's glory, the way it is meant to be played. Battlefield 3 is a direct sequel Battlefield 2(PC version) and has much of the same game-play, while carrying over much of what made the Bad Company series fun. Battlefield 3 is also the first game in the main series to have a story. I am not reviewing Battlefield 3 for the story because as a Battlefield veteran would know the series has never been about the campaign.
The multiplayer of Battlefield 3 is top-notch. Maps on Battlefield 3 are big and have a lot happening at one time that makes the battles just the more epic. Battlefield has always been more of the team based tactical shooter where helping out your team gives you more experience than trying to increase your K/D ratio, which might turn off some people (cough CoD). One thing that sets Battlefield apart from many other military shooters is the use of vehicles. Maps are bigger on Battlefield 3 so the use of vehicles is a must to get around quicker and help back-up your team. There is a lot of unlockables in Battlefield 3 to keep you playing for a long time. Many of the items you unlock are the weapons. The more you play and the better you do the better weapons you get. Weapons on Battlefield 3 feel a lot more realistic compared to, say, CoD. When firing a weapon on Battlefield 3 there is recoil and if you hold in the trigger your bullets will go everywhere. Guns feel more weighty and feel like you are actually shooting a real gun on the game, instead of a BB gun like what CoD feels like. I will warn people that if they have never played a Battlefield game before, Battlefield 3 does have a learning curve. My tip is to not play it like a run and gun shooter. Make sure you are backing up your team. If you are a Medic/Assault, lay out medkits where ever they are needed. If a teammate is down revive them( only if you know it is safe). If you are support through ammo out for your teammates. If you are an Engineer repair the vehicles and destroy enemy vehicles. If you play Recon help keep the teammates safe and lay out respawning devices so teamates can respawn in a safer spot.
If you are the type of person who likes to assist your team and back them up, this is the game for you. Battlefield 3 is my shooter of the year and is an amazing game.
