If you've played one EA game, you know what to expect.
But its an ea game, and ea has been following a trend for decades: put in as little as possible. This game is morbidly glitchy, buggy, and crap happy. The lag alone on my small business level connection and on a 4 month old pc is the worst game ive ever seen period. If i randomly encounter an enemy and its up to the quick draw, i put 3-5 rounds into the guy before i even see him turn, and somehow 9 times out of 10 im the guy bleeding on the floor. Deaths can also be lagged by up to 3 seconds, so for the longest time i thought i was getting shot through walls, but i was not.
After just a few weeks and a game that for the first time in years has brought many of my friends back together again to play it, and already everyone (even the most robust of us) are rage quitting for one reason or another, and its almost never due to the gameplay mechanics. Its almost always due to stability and lag or bugs.
Internet speeds are not improving, but our games are getting more graphics and hardware intensive. This means that at least for the foreseeable future, that i think this will be among the last of the multi player shooters i ever buy for the pc until things change. EDIT: i take that back, ill probably try arma 3 at least.
If you want to pick up this game (or any other multiplayer shooter atm) i would recommend getting it for a console where everyone is running the same machines. At least this way everyone is restricted in the same manner, and not that its as large a problem with battlefield as i thought, but you will also have less hackers etc.
all in all, bf3 should be an 8.5 (the game itself really can be a good time), but as it stands its downright lucky to maintain its 7.0.
EDIT: so after playing this game for an extended period i have to say its got to be the most broken game ive ever played. If you can see me on your screen, then i CANNOT kill you. I have come up point blank and dumped entire drums of ammo on people, and i get shot once in the toe and die. Litterally the only time i can kill someone is when their back is to me.
Sound like im exaggerating? i just got done with a game where someone was afk and i had to reload my drum fed shotgun to kill him standing 5 ft away. my shotty holds 8.
