Battlefield and EA saves us from the blight that is CoD
This game has been long awaited in my books and now its here I'm happy as Larry that I own it and have been playing it at every opportunity I've had.
Now I must say that this game isn't bringing anything terrible new to the field. Many would say destructible environments but I've been blowing holes in things since Red Faction, its not a new idea. The only difference being is that BC2 does it extremely well. The rest of the game is very well put together by keeping the key factors that have made the other battlefield games such a success. You give a person a gun, vehicles, a big area and some points to capture that's essentially it. Its just that EA have fleshed it out with destructible environments etc.
Another point I would like to say is there being no prone (lying down) many people have been put off by this idea but it does it so well I didn't miss prone at all. Running through the middle of a fire fight is very dramatic (assuming you survive) with bullets wizzing past your head, rockets blowing buildings up, tree's falling down. Its like your acting out the parts in a Hollywood block buster most of the time.
To get the full effect of this game though you do need a good set up PC wise, but it is also good if you don't. Its a game that you can take serious one minute then you can find yourself laughing as you go Rambo style with an M60 into the jungle.
I will say that the weapons are a bit annoying in the case of the medic class having there main weapons as machine guns, but they have done the good thing of adding weapons you can have with any class. So I can run round with a Thompson instead of a SAW.
One final note being dedicated servers, thank you EA you heard our cry's of pain and have done something about it.
Its a damn good game and 100 times better than CoD ever was so I'd make the suggestion to go and get it. See you on the battlefield soldier.
