I descent tactical and realistic shooter but some balance issues and sometimes clunky online play hurt it.
But the online gaming experience for Battlefield 2 is where I ran into some issues. For starters it is very fun and I do enjoy it but it seems that in order for the developers to increase the size of the maps they also decreased the size of the players in the game. Where the sense of scale seems way off and players at a distance are fine but then when they get closer or you spot them don't seem much larger. This creates numerous problems with targeting. I liked the idea of the kit system to bring some idea of specialization but I think that this idea could be done better in the future. My final beef with the online is the guns, while they are vast in number they all shoot kind of the same and a assault rifle doesn't behave too much differently than a light machine gun.
Overall a good game that anyone can enjoy. I personally am a fan of the Modern Warfare series but after that abysmal Modern Warfare 2 and its broken online play Battlefield 2 was a breath of fresh air. I just wish they could combine what Modern Warfare does right with some of the Battlefield 2 ideas of specialization and getting rid of kill streaks and lame stuff like that.
