You are with your friends on the front line in one of the CAVs, one of the many awesome vehicles in the game. You are going full speed around the enemy base in an attempt to arm the first M-COM. Out of the corner of one your eyes you see machine gun fire coming and you do not know what it is. Luckily one of you are an engineer and can use a rocket launcher to lay waste to the threatening tank. This is just one of many "Battlefield" moments that can happen in this games amazing albeit a bit unpolished multiplayer. The ranking and unlocks system is not as deep as some of other games, but the core game play offers much more freedom of choice and immersion than any other FPS. You have 4 classes: Assault, Engineer, Medic, and Recon. Each of these classes have their own game-changing roles and all can be mastered for different playing styles. A game cannot be one if the whole team is assault or another class. The team has to be balanced so all kinds of threats can be met with action. Their are quite a bit of guns available which will make many coming back to get their next boom stick. The issue of the ranking system is that by rank 22 (about half way though all the ranks) all of the unlocks are already unlocked leaving nothing to strive for for the last 28 levels. This will not hold many players back though as the almost perfectly balanced team-based game play brings experiences unlike any other. Overall, this game has arguably the best multiplayer on consoles and is even better on PC with 32 players instead of 24 (consoles). The single-player portion of the game is a much more refined and linear game than the last game in the series. this could turn off some that like to have more freedom of choice during combat. The developers at DICE could have been trying to get some of the market from the Call of Duty style game play by making the game more linear and adding epic set pieces, though DICE did not match the all-out feel of say Modern Warfare 2's crazy campaign. This is DICE's biggest game yet and it will not let anybody down looking for an amazing game to play with a few friends or even for a better than average single-player.
