Battlezone is the kind of game that is loads of fun but just isn't long enough.

Battlezone is a tank battle game that was recently released from Atari.

Pre-Read
Battlezone is a game that jumps you right in, there is no training or instruction so you have to read the manual and I don't know many who do.

Gameplay
Battlezone consists of the ad-hoc only multiplayer with up to 4 players and the single player tournament and custom match.

Single Player - The base of this game is at the single player tournament. You start by picking a country (which is your team). Each country has it's own special attack but it's very easy to complete the game without even using it. Once you get past that you will have to play through 4 Tiers. Each Tier has some leves in which you much complete to advance.

The game consists of Deathzone (Typical Deathmatch), Capture The Flag,
Hotzone (You must capture and hold points for the longest time), Blackout (Destroy another teams power supply) and Lone Wolf (Capture an item and hold it for the longest time). Each game is different and has its team and free for all versions.

You drive Tanks... they're actually hovercrafts. There are three tanks, all have different speeds, completely different weapons. Note the hovercraft bit, these tanks are extremely hard to drive and it will take getting used to. Everytime you die in the middle of a match the game gives you a 30 second respawn time to either skip or change you tank and weapons... neat eh?

Graphics
This is what I love about this game. It's nothing special but I love these graphics. The background is definately not there but the levels are well designed and the tanks are bright and vivid.

Sound
The sound in this game is decent. Because it's a hovercraft battle game it's hard to get real sounds. They try but it doesn't feel like you just got hit with a damn rocket when you hear something that could be made with a synth. But they do a good job with having the music match the game and the voices.

Value
I 100% completed this game in under 5 hours. In fact I could have done it faster if I didn't decide to play it around 3AM. Once your'e done the game you don't feel the need to go back and replay at a different difficulty or do single player matches. All that's left is the multiplayer but unless you got 2 or 3 other friends with the game its not that fun.

Overall
It's a decent game if you need something to blaze through or if your friends all have it. The multiplayer is somewhat the knockoff tank version of Unreal Tournament if you catch my drift. There's much to be desired in this game mostly because it's such a short game. Atari had a great idea, they just didn't put enough work into it.
