I was hoping for nothing... and was dissappointed.
So when I heard BattleZone was coming out for the PSP and saw a few screen shots, (making sure it wasn't referencing the initial vector based game) I thought my long wait for another installment of BattleZone was over. I bought THREE COPIES. One for me and one a piece for my two friends that love the old game and have PSP's. (I can afford it.)
I expected at the VERY LEAST a port of the old game with some new missions. It's a very old game and could easily be run by a PSP. Instead, they took the one aspect of the game that wouldn't work well on a PSP and threw away everything else. Tank to tank battles were a heart pounding portion at the beginning and end of any battle. But the part that made the game great was building your base, acquiring and defending resources and slowly CRUSHING YOUR FOES!!! Plus there were many vehicles to fight, master and command in. Not just tanks.
I really wish they had called this game something else, like "Crappy Tank -VS- Crappy Tank Battle Royal!" Instead of smearing the name of one of my all time favorite games. I didn't get what I expected. That's the long and the short of it. They could have been lazy and just ported the old game and I would have been ecstatic. It never occurred to me that they would actually do work to disappoint me.
