Bayonetta is a killing machine!

User Rating: 9.5 | Bayonetta (United Kingdom) X360
This game has been receiving some high scored reviews and now i can see why. After playing the demo, watching videos and reading reviews i was still a bit skeptical as to what this game would be like. My god am i glad i bought this now, it mixes ninja gaiden + devil may cry (creators of this game as well) and a lot of new style of gameplay.

Story: The story is quite confusing at first and whilst the cutscenes are fun and engaging, your not really sure of what is occuring or even where it is heading. As you go along you find that the story does unfold but i will reccomend you play the game twice as for me it didn't sink in first time but 2nd time it made more sense. 8/10

Visuals/Presentation: Bayonetta looks like a dream world with mixed scenary and beautifull colours. Some of the creativity that has gone into this makes you just wanna stop playing and admire the genius of it. Everywhere you go there is different scenary and cool weather effects. Also little things like lava popping up, fire effects and lightning looks great. The cut scenes are quite unique and and some are done in a sort of real time effect. There great and a lot of detail has gone into them. 9/10

Gameplay: This is where the game really shines. The amount of combos/attacks you can pull off and master are astonishing. They look incredible and you can see that a lot of detail went into them. This is not just a BUTTON BASHING GAME. When i play i think about the moves i am doing and yeh sometimes you will button bash but it is mixed with your own knowledge of moves you know. Pulling off attacks has never looked smoother. There's a feature called Witch Time where if you dodge an attack perfectly then the time slows down which allows you to take a breather and pull over some crazy moves without been attacked. I could go into so much more detail but this is 10x better and smoother than devil may cry. I just wished Dante had bayonettas fluency. 10/10

Features: To add on to the amazing combat system you can buy equipment, techniques, potions, special effects/summoning, costumes and more. Throughout the game you unlock items by completing chapters and challeneges you may not no about. To buy items you have to earn halos which is the money currency which you get by defeating enemies. You can receive more halos by receiving special bonuses such as angel attack which requires you to shoot angels down in a arcadey like game. You also receive bonuses from not getting attacked, not used any items and time. This is just a toned down explanation, there is much more for you to feed into.

Sound/Music: Music for me is extraudunary but some is cheesy, some EPIC and some random. All in all i think it fits the game. At first i was like WtF but then it grew on me and i realized what the developers were trying to do was make it less serious and more fun which they did a great job off. The mixture is fantastic, one minute i think the music sucks and then a masterful epic music piece comes on like in a boss battle and just changes the concept on the way you approach the situation and adds a bit more fire and seriousness to the game. The randomness really makes you look forward to what is going to be played next. 9/10

Enemies: The enemies are wonderfully crafted with astonishing detail and can really push you to the limit. When fighting there are always multiple enemies and they don't just stand around they come at you like raging tigers and want some meat. The A.I is intellegent at attacking but shielding themselves is something they don't do but its not that sort of game for A.I. to defend. Boss fights are phenomenal, the sizes off them and the way they attatck you is great and will require different tactics for each one. When a boss is nearly defeated you bust up a move called climax which makes allows you to summon a demon and finish the boss off. They vary for different bosses but look fantastic and the effects are awesome. The variety in enemies are good, they come in bundles rather than many different types but there all pretty epic and you can even steal there weapons once defeated which is amazing. They soon wear off though after a few uses. 10/10

Just because this game has a women as the main character does not mean it sucks or is less good. There is a sexual nature to this but i think it suits the character and adds some spice to the game. The voice acting is very good as well. Some minor camera issues but nothing to get in a tiff about just rotating the camera can be a bit of a pain.

Here are some extras:
- Earn medals for things such as; How effective you completed a fight such as, Completed a chapter and the time it took. The medals go in order from Stone Award, bronze medal, silver medal, gold medal, platinum and pure platinum been best.
- A leaderboard to compare world wide or friends stats on who got best combos on what chapter or who completed quickest chapter/game and more. Adds for replayability.
- 2 extra difficulties to unlock and you can carry on your character with weapons and items onto a new game.
- Throughout the game these portals appear where you can enter and a specific requirement has to be met such as keep in the air for 30 seconds whilst getting attacked would get you an award.
- Lots of unlockables.
- Can replay chapters to earn a better medal or get lots more halos.

I am sure their are things i have forgotten but only good things. Overall this masterpiece deserves to be bought for the full price tag. It has a japanese feel to it but thats not a bad thing unless your against it. The game is just so crazy and epic and random you will be aware of your surroundings at all times and be glued to the screen pulling off combos you wouldn't even dream about. You can even unlock 2 characters in the game and play as both as them. With all the difficulty levels and extra features you will come back to this game many of times. i am already on my 3rd playthrough and their is still so much more to find out and achieve. Yep a lot of replayabilty in this one and its all fun and i am addicted to it. Also reccomened to play in short bursts after you complete once or twice.

As the creators of devil may cry i hope they implement some of the features of this game and add it into devil may cry 5 as dante and Nero are much cooler but bayonetta would own both of them hands down! Bring on bayonetta 2
