Come on, since when were movie- based games good? Stop making em'!

User Rating: 3.5 | Beowulf: The Game PSP
Ok, let's make this clear. Most movie based games have the same headline: "disastrous" Unfortunately, Beowulf fits this description, one of so many other movie-based videogames.
Beowulf is an action - based game, and it's supposed to be fairly brutal, but I'm barely seeing any blood! I was hoping for a more gruesome experience, but this is just one of the many shortcomings of Beowulf on the PSP. I've played Beowulf on the 360, and while it's unfair to compare the two, the 360 version has a much higher level of brutality. I was hoping for some consistency between consoles.
Now, the graphics are pretty decent, something you can expect of the PSP standard, although at times the visuals can feel clunky, and bare.
The storyline is that of the movie, with some expected changes you'd find in a videogame adaptation. The story is dull, and quite frankly, boring. I usually felt more compelled to skip the dialogue scenes than listen to them.
The gameplay is poor. Very poor. Combat feels clunky, slow, and dull. I really wish they worked harder on this game, most specifically in the gameplay area. Average graphics, fine. Poor storyline, fine (games don`t always excel in story, but they can make up for it in the gameplay... doesn't happen here).
Overall, Beowulf is a poor product, a deprived videogame, lacking the standards of even the most average game. If you feel you want to try it out, please rent first, you might like it.
