A very fun, relaxing and cool 2D platformer for children or those that remember the Berenstain Bears books as a child.
The Genesis/Megadrive had quite a lot of games. There were a lot of great licensed games for the system. One of them was an underappreciated game called the Berenstain Bears Camping Adventure, based on the children's books.
The game itself is entirely a platformer. You can play as Brother or Sister Bear. You can jump and pick up items to use. Items that you use include a rock, a net, or a digger. These items are used for places that need to be figured out in order to move on. As you play through levels, you'll have to jump on animals or jump on platforms. Sometimes, you'll get into a bonus stage and collect items to score points. When it comes to levels, there are only a total of 5. However, each of those levels has 3 checkpoints. So they actually take a while to finish. But this game is quite fun that you'll ignore how long the game actually takes.
Though the platforming gameplay is rather simple, anyone with an open-mind is sure to have some fun here.
Graphics:
Even for an old-school game, the graphics get the job done and remain true to the colorful, unique illustrations represented in the Berenstain Bears books. Those that liked the books will like the designs.
Sound:
The music is upbeat and simple, but fits perfectly in an innocent game. The sound effects remain as interesting as the music. You might hum to the songs that are played in this game.
Conclusion:
Berenstain Bears Camping Adventure is rather short and simple, but it does have some quality fun involved. This game is mostly for kids, but anyone that likes, or liked, the Berenstain Bears might be pleased with it. I recommend this to any fan of the Berenstain Bears out there, but otherwise, it might not be worth your time.
Pros:
-Makes good use of the Berenstain Bears license
-Simple, but mildly fun gameplay
-Graphics and Music are faithful to what a Berenstain Bears books.
