Beyond Good and Evil was a game I discovered in the bargain bin. I think it is now under 20 bucks US which makes it a steal to pick up. I hadn’t played a fun Action-Adventure game in a long time. There’s enough of a plot to make you want to keep playing, and even though the game can be finished in about 5-6 hours (I played the GameCube version, but I think they are identical) it was totally worth it. The main character, Jade lives on a planet that is being run by a puppet alien species. She’s a photojournalist and your missions involve trying to infiltrate various places in her city to gather proof, via her camera. Jade is equipped with a melee weapon and has some stealth abilities. I won’t spoil the story, I will say that there is some “coin collecting” in the form of Pearls, which are the games currency. You’ll need pearls to facilitate hovercraft upgrades that are spread throughout the game. In short, if in need of a fun Action-Adventure Fantasy game with a great storyline, check out Beyond Good and Evil. For 20 bucks, you can’t beat it.
