Blade Runner? Terminator? Robopocalypse? Not a bad combo.

CONCEPT:
Lets start with the concept. It's been done before, whether in literature or movies. The sci-fi take over of robots is not a new genre. In Binary Domain, it may not feel new but it feels fresh, a different take on a proven concept. The characters and story are likeable and fun. The voice command technology, if refined a bit more would have set this 3rd person shooter apart from similar games (Gears o War).
GAMEPLAY:
While playing Binary Domain, you feel like you've done this before and chances are you have. But, its still fun as hell and the different setting of robots as apposed to alien life or other soldier to soldier combat gives the gameplay a fresh feel.
Sega (a Japanese developer) in a twist sort of makes Japan the enemy in the story. It's hilarious to see other countries social paradigms collide in a stereotypical fashion. As an American I laugh every-time the game makes reference to our "God fearing nation of gun nuts".. or the brash British intelligence officer with his stereotyped condescending remarks.
There is a lot to like about Binary Domain, with a tongue and cheek twist on an already proven genre. The combat is accessible and fun. You can see where the game tries to make a mark for itself, but in the end its a clone of other great games and themes. However, it's still fun as hell and worth the price of admission for this gamer.
