I could have lived without Bioshock 2.
It later turns out the "epic quest" consists of doing boring tasks like: collect 4 of this, find 3 of that, pull this lever, return to the start. In the meanwhile when you're collecting these things and pulling those levers you're challenged by a careless selection of enemies which consist of:
The optional big daddy, which in theory should be your superiors seeing as they are -final- versions and you're just a delta. I turns out they are very easy to kill, if you're not able to kite them around or stand at a higher location, it's easy to just light them on fire, run, hide and repeat until they die.
The splicers, which I honestly can't tell the difference from. But I'll sum them up really quick: There is annoying splicers who disappear into thin air. and there is annoying splicers who just get in the way ALL the time. And I do mean ALL the time.
The big sisters, which are actually quite amusing to fight, are basically really fast big daddies with cooler tricks and more health. They're by far the only challenging thing you'll fight (even on hard).
The robots. You know the drill, you get detected by a camera, a lot of flying cameras with machine guns attached to them attack you and you blow them into pieces. And then there's the stationary machine gun which you can just run past.
Then there's the weapons....
...the weapons *shiver*. Every game has a really comfortable weapon to use... expect bioshock, the ACTUAL weapons are: drill, spear gun, launcher, rivet gun, shot gun and machine gun. Some people might argue and say "Nah man, u got the camera and the hacking tool", but lets just face it, these are not weapons. while you can imagine what the hacking tool does the camera is a bit less obvious, it's used to "film" your enemies as you kill them to learn of their weaknesses. This is fine, but really.. 6 weapons? All of which can carry 25% of your DESIRED amount of ammo. The rivet gun for instance, when fully upgraded can only hold 16 rivets per clip and 72 in total. 1 splicer takes 2-3 rivets in the face and while that seems fair it's hard to always plant a headshot. So you're bound to use at least 5 rivets per splicer on hard, later in the game. This gets really frustrating since you'll then have to use some of your more powerful weapons on lesser enemies, which means when the big sisters attack you'll have to run around with your drill and a constant spam of plasmids.
The plasmids are by far the only thing mildly interesting about this sequel, there's loads to choose from and while I haven't tried every single one of them I can point out that there are funny and entertaining ones in the game. For instant you might want to kill your enemies with a swarm of bees or insta-freeze them so you can easily break them with your drill (which btw is the only entertaining weapon).
By now you should have caught my drift, the boring weapons make it boring to kill boring enemies.
Now mix this boredom up with a game experience which is roughly 7-9 hours long;
Build on a soon-to-be dead engine.
And a obvious console port.
and you have MY Bioshock 2 experience.
Hope this helps you out.
edit: the rivet gun carries bit more ammo when fully specialized. :)
