Returning to Rapture never felt so good! Prepare to get immersed yet again. Real Score-9.3
The story is pretty well done as you understand things as you progress through the game. It even shows life before fall of Rapture. Though the story did not feel as memorable as the original Bioshock, I still felt satisfied with it and will play it over and over again. I could say more about the story but it would contain spoilers and with a game like Bioshock 2, it's best for it to be left alone for yourself to experience.
The gameplay is certainly improved from Bioshock, you now play as a Big Daddy, therefore you have more strength and therefore you can now use Plasmids and guns simultaneously, which I must say is bloody amazing. You really feel like your a big, strong, tough Big Daddy. As you gain upgrades, via the Gatherer's Garden's, you can get even more awesome plasmids for example Electro Shock 3 is now that if you hold down the left trigger, electricity continuously shoots out from your fingers and while you do that you can even fire off as much gunfire as you want resulting in a jaw-dropping reaction (well I did anyway lol). You also collect ADAM differenlty from the first Bioshock. In the first Bioshock you kill the Big Daddies and then either Rescue or Harvest the Little Sister. In Bioshock 2 you kill the Big Daddies and now you can either Adopt or Harvest the Little Sister. If you choose adopt you then pick up the Little Sister and can now get her to tell you where corpses that contain ADAM are. When you find one (dont worry, the Little Sisters tell you exactly where they are) you can then tell let your Little Sister than get that ADAM from the corpse, but it's not that simple, while she is doing that lots of enemies will come and try to attack you and your Little Sister, so you might want to set up traps before you get you Little Sister to get the ADAM. The fights are very fun and rewarding at the same time. After you have gotten ADAM from 2 corpses you can then take your Little Sister to the vents they move around in, from there you can Rescue or Harvest them, like in the first Bioshock, if you Rescure them you get less ADAM but get rewarded after every few Rescues, but if you Harvest them you get more ADAM than if you Rescued them. To sum it (this a very big piece of text, sorry) the gameplay has certainly imporved from the first Bioshock and is very enjoyable.
Now in Bioshock 2 not everything is perfect 100%, and as for the Graphics, which do look stunning, but they still look the same as the first Bioshock and really don't look that (if not) improved.
The Sound is amazing, everything from items falling on the ground to the water dripping on your helmet even to the sounds of screaming splicers as you set on fire while shooting the hell out of them with your machine gun...anyways, what I'm trying to say is that if you have surround and want a creepy, immersive sound experience well Bioshock 2 aces it!!
Overall Bioshock 2 is an amazing experience if you enjoyed the first Bioshock, you will really feel welcomed to be back in Rapture, because some people, including me, really missed that under water city full of crazy people. So pick it up if you enjoy:
-Bioshock
-FPS games
-Action/Horror games
-underwater cities
-crazy people
Bioshock 2 gets a 9.3 out of 10.
