A story if there ever was one.
User Rating: 9.5 | BioShock Infinite X360
New to the Bioshock series, I was admittedly a little skeptical. When I first start playing, I was introduced to the typical shoot-the-bad-guys-and-save-the-girl plot scenario. Undeterred, I continued, expecting the usual in these good but repetitive types of games. I reached this city of paradise as advertised, and quickly realized that there is more than guns in this game. Bioshock Infinite doesn't immediately throw you into the action, as we all assumed, but leads you on an exploration through this beautiful and seemingly perfect city. It was alive, and all perceived through a character just as clueless as you, although maybe slightly less perplexed. Foreboding is almost literally written on the walls, and you soon realize that you got more than your character bargained for. When combat ensues, you are taken by utter surprise, but have some tricks of your own just up your sleeve. These battles are entertaining, and steadily grow in variety due to the wide array of weapons and abilities that are able to be found and upgraded, but the real treat is the colorful world around you, in the personalities of people, literally, and in the extensive plot. It is impossible to understate the complexity and immersion of this plot, especially the exponentially growing intimacy you feel towards it. I won't spoil any of it, as it would be an atrocity to even give a hint, but I will say that by the end, you will vow to forever cherish this game. That is, right after the solid 10 minutes of asking yourself what the hell just happened. This game is truly worth the infiniteness of its title.
