A game that surely will be there with the great

That's get the tag line out of the way; Bioshock is a good game. The game design is one of many promising game that actually achieved what it set out to do, an atmospheric and engaging single player game that provides with seemingly endless combination of combat options and extras that are worth pursuing. Nevertheless I feel it somehow made the mistake of many single player game that saw the genre's demise; repetitiveness. While it sounds like a good thing that you have all these options to put away foes, but there are always some way that is far efficient and end up being the only way that you use; how many of you stick with pistol when you can use machine guns in any 1st person shooter? Gamespot is right on when it comes to the ease of the game in that you are often just loaded with ammo/tonics. Furthermore, while it is true it is fun to have the options of sneaks/hacks, sneaking is pointless while the hacking game becomes so contrive and boring after your 50th (which is an 360 achievement). Also, i know the audio tape is a great idea, but somehow i wish they use the ghost imagery more than tape, as some tape really dont give you enough detail and risk being something you collect for the sake of it. As for the story itself, it again made the same mistake of not giving you enough but leave it to the end to give you everything digest... although it is far better than most single player game there is on the market, on par with Half life and FEAR.

The controls take a little to use to, and changing weapons with the radiant menu (paused) takes a bit away from the pulses of the combat. AI is good.

Bioshock is a good. Great atmosphere and allow you to immerse in the universe. I just wonder if they can spend an extra 6months to polish the story to make it a great game.
