Solid gameplay, great story... if BioShock suffers some anything is a major case of the Ayn Rand and typicality.

User Rating: 8.5 | BioShock PS3
BioShock definitely carries a huge sense of uniqueness. While the combat system is that of your basic FPS, the story behind BioShock fleshes out this adventure through a dystopian underworld of oddity and grotesque mystery. Your set as the stalwart protagonist, the nameless hero who happens upon the bizarre underwater city of Rapture, by happenstance of a plane wreck over the ocean. As you venture down to the depths of the ocean floor, you're greeted by a city in chaos, with strange and genetically mutated ex-humans (known as splicers) running around eagerly waiting to kill anything that moves. Namely you.

Gameplay handles fluidly, like you'd expect any FPS in this era. Everything is dark, brutal, and grungy, with water leaks all over the city, blood drenching just about every square inch of the places you walk, and if it's clean, it's likely because it is due to be blown to hell by you. Despite the rough world that surrounds you, everything looks quite gorgeous, and if you're not busy avoiding gunshots and homicidal maniacs, gazing out the windows into the ocean can offer a certain charm.

This is a great game when it comes down to it. It looks good, it plays well, the story is interesting and climactic, and the game really has no weaknesses beyond not deviating much from FPS clichés. It's hardcore, rough-'n-tumblin', and definitely worth any gamer's time.
