A unique game that sends chills going down your spine for the most part.
*This is based on my second play through of the game, I restarted the game due to me just being a douche - it will get explained!*
The beginning of the game introduces you quickly to the underwater city of Rapture. You soon become familiar to the 50's style of the game which adds to the scare factor of this game.
I wouldn't of said this game is a "omg I want to hide behind my Xbox games and cry myself to sleep" scare although it does provide enough creepiness to keep you on the edge of your seat( or bed in my case). The lighting effects in Bioshock effectively add to the experience with the occasional complete darkness sections with creepy voices of the Splicers in the background. The only thing that was truly creeping me out was the Little Sisters, with the glowing eyes and goosebumps raising voices, they do a great deal in creeping out the gamer.
The story throughout the game is a simple yet amazing story which is unique to the game. With a couple of twists and turns along the way it really does keep the gamer engrossed with the game.
In the game, rescuing or harvesting the little sisters are essential for continuing. I made this mistake on my first play through however managed with less difficulty the second time round and enjoyed it more as I didn't have the struggle of having to keep getting restarted at the vita chambers. It is a game where if you have no clue what you are doing, you are screwed so it does pay off to be taking your time throughout the game.
The voice acting in the game is superb and done to a really good standard. With a couple of glitches along the way, the game appears to be pretty much bug free as well which helps with the experience to move fluently.
Overall, the game is a definite buy for me, even just to play through it once and to experience such a good game. I do think the game has a couple of replay values due to the temptation of getting more achievements which could be easily done as well however not many due to the fact that you will know what to expect. ,
