Ever read Ayn Rand or like Art Deco then play Bioshock.
The skyline of the city under water is amazing and awe inspiring. You get a feeling of seeing something no one as ever seen, kind of a Jurassic Park moment. Then the horror starts, and there is nothing you can do to save the man from getting killed. As you venture the halls of the ruin city, you get chased and hunted by psychos and freak splicers.
In you attempt to live you are helped by Atlas and man looking for his family. He never shows up to help you in person, but you keep some glimpses of him from afar. You also get a nice arsenal of guns that you can upgrade and make into powerful weapons. Which help get you through most of your encounters, but the real power is in combining the gun with plasmids. Some plasmids are traps that can be tripped to stop an enemy or finish one off. This combinations are the real way to survive the city of Rapture. Nothing makes you feel better then when something you setup goes off and give you more then what you were planning for.
The game's story is confusing at the beginning, which is fine, it gets you into the world with no knowledge before hand. A new world for a player to explore. Then as you progress you learn of the horrors of Andrew Ryan and the city, and piece together what happened that fateful day.
The best characters are the Big Daddies, Sander Cohen, and Andrew Ryan. The Big Daddies are walking mini bosses that you don't need to fight, you must fight to survive till the end of the game. Sander Cohen is just plain insane and he has no hope of getting back to sanity. He also has the best/creepiest entrance in the game with the music, confetti and his decent down the stairs. Andrew Ryan gives you the insight that takes the story to a new level with what he tells you and about you and the beginning of the game with the plane.
Overall the game is great, I wasn't sure how it would turn out. I was nervous when i bought it and started playing, but the game turned out to be great and gave me a great story about college.
