Bioshock. When i first heard about this game i tought it was just a plain and boring shooter with no good story or exiting gameplay. I was never this wrong about a game before. I only bought it now because it's became quite cheap after so much time as passed since his release date and i heard good thing's about it. I'll start with the gameplay, Bioshock is, of course, a first person shooter like so many before, you have a machine gun, a shotgun, a pistol, and so on that are quite common that you can upgrade in "Power To The People" vending machine's with the exception of 2 which are quite unique. We have the camera that allow's you to take pictures of your enemy's giving you a hint to defeating them and/or more damage to it when fighting and the crossbow that can make alot of damage or place traps around you and can also be upgraded to deal more damage and to strenghten it's arrows. That alone whould probably make it a so-so shooter but there is something more, something that gives it it's uniqueness and shall i say, glamour?... Plasmids. These are genetic mutations that you can give yourself troughout the game that give you superhuman abilities which include but are certanly not limited to: freezing or burning your enemies, creating dopplegangers to confuse and distract them, placing cyclone traps, shocking you foes and even shooting bee's from your arms! As you progress trough the game you will be able to buy new one's or just better ones than the ones you have. You will feel like a power house of desctruction as you go trought the amazingly beautifull, disturbing, and absolutly enchanting city of rapture. Now as for the story. It is simply magnific. It's full of twists that will leave your mind spining at how unpredictable and exiting it is, you start as the lone survivor of a plane that crashed right by the entrance to the underwater city. From that point on you have to explore it and see what you can do to return home, or try to became the ruler of this ruined city full of splicers, people who have gotten adicted to Adam, a substance that unlocks the potencial of the human body and brain wich is nothing more than a substance excreted by a parasite that was atached to little girls. During the game you have the option to eiher harvest these girls and get the entire adam (which is what you require to buy the plasmids from the "Gatherer's Garden" vending machine's) they have in their bodies wich will end in their death or kill the parasite turning them into normal girls so that they can have a normal life and not one where they have to suck blood out of corpses all day (which is what allows them to produce adam). Of course before you can actually suck the adam from these Little Sisters you will first have to pass trough their guardians, huge armored hulks that are called Big Daddy's and not to spoil further the plot for any who read this before purchasing the game, it is one full of incredible twists that include the main character's past and quite a interesting end, no mather which path you chose to take, be it the savior of Rapture and the twisted and tortured soul's that lie inside it or it's new merciless and power hungry ruler.
Bioshock is a modern day first person shooter with a solid single player campaign providing it's main focus. Now when I say modern day, I don't mean that it takes place in modern times. This is obviously not the case wit... Read Full Review
