A classic game, it has got all the makings of a true legend.

Bioshock is one of those games that have it all. It is a first person shooter with the makings of a classic, all you need to do is read a review about it in a magazine or on the net to know this. There are several reasons for this. Bioshock is a first person shooter with a twist. Not only can you use a varying arsenal of weapons against the many foes that you will come across, but you if they prove to tough for you, or you get bored of shooting them to death (although why you would is beyond me) you can use you environment to help kill your enemies, or in some cases, you can even turn enemies against each other! This is done with a new genetic modification called "plasmids". Plasmids are a genetic marvel, that allows you to summon fire at your fingertips, cast blots of lightning, enrages enemies, and other such wonders. You can "splice" several plasmids that help you in different situations, for instance, you can turn invisible, you can speed up alarms, and you can give off a static charge when you're hit. You maybe thinking "wow, splicing is great, why not just splice everything into me", well, that is how the enemies you come to face have been created. The AI in this game are quite great, because although this is not a generically scary game, you can hear them creeping around, making no sense when they talk, and then you get hit in the back by a wrench. The AI are clever, responding to gunshots, grenades and lights, they recoil and charge which can help you, but that normally means they just come back angrier. The Big Daddies of the game are not as stealthy or scary when not being fought, as they thud around the level and you can hear the groans of them. The second you hit one or a Little Sister that is trailing along, these things go mental. The Bouncer races towards you with his drill and the Rosie will throw proximity mines and fir the Rivet Gun, until either you, or they are dead. The plot to the game is great, with a huge twist, and several bits that you just go "wow" to. Throughout the game you can find audio diaries, which fill in the background of Rapture, and how the place fell apart into the ruin it is now. The end of the game is dependent on how you choose to play a lot of the game. Throughout the game you can either Harvest or Rescue the Little Sisters you come across. How often you do either of them affects the outcome of the game. All in all, a brilliant game, going to go down in the classics in my book, but you are the judge of it in the end, so why not have a play?
