A great shooter different from your everyday run of the mill shooter!

This game is great! I love the way that it feels like you are playing a multi-player in the sense that when you die, rather than having to start again at the last checkpoint and accomplish everything that you already had up till you died, rather everything stays. For example, if you kill monsters A, B, C, and D and then die, you "respawn" back at the closest Vita-Chamber but as you start to walk your way back to where you were, monsters A, B, C, and D are still lying there dead - it's not as if you have to kill them all over again. And if you are fighting a Big Daddy, which requires a lot of damage to take it down, and you die, when you get back to it the damage that you already dealt it is still there rather than him having full health again. It makes it a bit easier but a lot more fun.
The other part that makes it feel like a multiplayer is that the game is split up into "maps" kind of like playing a multi-player. Rather than having your standard, clear a room, move onto the next room, clear that room, move to the next room, it is more like you are in a big section with boundaries and you don't move onto the next big section until you have accomplished all of your goals for that section. So you are kind of running back and forth and all around in the section.
I like the idea of collecting money and using the money to purchase your ammo, health, etc. That can make it very challenging.
I think Bioshock is a great game and I am definitely looking forward to the sequel due out later this year.
