Would you kindly enter this underwater, ultra violent fever dream?
The game is incredible, from the enviroments to the sound to the story(better than some of the "movies" in Hollywood), Bioshock truly shines.
The guns are o.k, and you have your standards:pistol, shotgun, machine gun, etc. However it's the Plasmids that make fighting something you wish for. What's better than lighting a bum on fire, then watching him dance? Or shocking him wiht electricity, Sith lord style, and hitting him in the head with a wrench? Or throwing a barrel at his head with your mind? When you add the physical tonics(which allow you to modify your body to fit your play style) and the alternative ammunition(electric tripwires, fire bullets, and more) you have some of the most varied and exciting combat around. My only complaints are the way you die and the difficulty. When you die, instead of loading a checkpoint, you go straight to a Vita Chamber. Meaning, you wake up in a pod, with all the damage done to your enemies remaining. This makes fighting the Big Daddies somewhat less of a challenge than it should be, letting you just charge and hope for the best. Also, when you scale up the difficulty, the enemies just get tougher, and you use more energy when you use plasmids. No AI changes(at least none that i"ve seen) or anything. Just more HP. However, apart from these small flaws, Bioshock is perfect, from start to finish. Now, would you kindly go and buy it?
