I remember hearing about BioShock for some time before it came out, and I figured I would never get it, it didn't seem too appealing. Then, one day, I downloaded the demo on Xbox Live and bam! I was hooked. I played through the demo several times and had decided that this was a must-have. So I bought it the day it came out and I still play it to this day. Let me start with the graphics: Unbelievable. They are some of the best I have seen on the 360. The creepy atmosphere, the environments, the characters. Everything about the game, visually, is beautiful. The sound... meh, wasn't too bad. The voice acting was good, and quite funny sometimes, even if it wasn't meant to be. I have a weird sense of humor when it comes to these things. Anyway, the guns sounded alright, could have sounded a bit more real and loud. Thats about the only problems I see -or hear, rather- with the sound. The controls are pretty standard. Easy to get into if you like FPS's, and no hard to learn if you don't. The gameplay is as good as the graphics are. You find many different abilities throughout the game, such as the ability to set things ablaze, or shoot lightning at them. What I find interesting about these two "plasmids," as they call them in this game, is that say you run up on like 2 or 3 guys armed with guns and you see no way around them and you are low on health. Well, you look down and lo and behold there is a trail of oil from your feet to the enemies. All it takes is a quick menu commant, or pulling the left trigger if you have said plasmid equipped already, and then pulling the left trigger again. Then you can watch as the fire finds its way to your enemies, lighting them up in a painful inferno. I suppose you could also just throw the fire at them and hope they run into their buddies. It's all up to you. Now, onto the second plasmid I mentioned: Lightning. Not only is this lethal when it is maxed out, but it stuns your enemies, allowing you to get in a few good whacks with the wrench, if that's your style. It doesn't stop there. If you happen to find yourself in front of a pool of water with enemies coming at you head on, simply shock the water and fry those suckers like french fries. There are many abilities like these at your desposal, not to mention many weapons. So, if you like First Person Shooters, then you'll like Bioshock is what I'm trying to say. There may not be a multiplayer function, but the single player more than makes up for it with it's awesome graphics, story, gameplay, and controls. The sound problem won't even cross your mind once the games story consumes you. Definitely worth buying and playing through several times.
