BLOW IT UP!!!
The game is known as one of the first games with destructible environments and was acclaimed for how realistic the guns were (after all, every weapon in the game is in existence). But if neither of those tickle your fancy, perhaps you could look a little deeper. The game starts off with some blurred-up live-action movies. You're in an interrogation room, being forced to explain your actions to some head-honcho. You begin to recall your events. AND BOOM! You're in the game! The story? While most of it is explained in the mid-level cut scenes, you do get radio messages and instructions that help explain why you're doing what it is you're doing. So in order to get the whole story square, paying attention with your ears, as well as with your hands and eyes, is essential while you're playing. And yes, the environments are really cool an fun to blow up. The buildings crumble and people get sqished and squooshed under falling pillars at banks and flipped and flopped across landscapes after you throw a grenade near 'em. So, basically, the game appeals to those of long and short attention spans, those with depth, and those more shallow than spit. Finally, the game also appeals to the stealth-lovers, such as m'self. Trying to pick off the highest number of bogies without getting spotted or caught is one of the best challenges the game has to offer. Can you pick off both guards by throwing the grenade into the barrel they're heating themselves with? Or do you take the risk and pick off one, hoping to high heaven that you can nail the other before he sounds an alarm?
Overall, the graphics of the game are great. just keep in mind that it is an X-Box game and not a 360 game. Hey, even for a regular X-Box game, they're still some of the most kickin' graphics for the console! Your focus even changes- when you're reloading your gun, your gun becomes the focus of your attention and all the surroundings blur just a tad. it's not like you be blind-reloading in real life! The sound is great as well. Oh crap! A grenade just went off right next to you! You're not going to be able to hear after that! In the game, your ears ring from the loud blast- just as they do when you're standing right next to the PAs at a metal or rock concert. The storyline is good, too. So if you're not into senseless shooting, well... Just think of it this way: "There is a decent story here, and if I don't kill them, they'll kill me. And then I won't be able to find out what happened next! AAAAaaa!!!!"
