Almost like the school nerd; Nobody really likes it, but a possibly good game lies underneath. It's what you make it.
The Bad: Not as much destrucion as you'd expect.
Graphics: Lighting is impressive, gives the dark gloomy feel to forests and the urban feel to towns. While some objects dont seem to be rendered as well as others, environments still look b-e-a-utiful. Not a lot of slow down, not noticeable anyways.
Gameplay: Not a lot of difference from your standard FPS, but it adds a little something to it. If you so choose, and you time it right, you can shoot the rocket of a just-fired RPG and it will explode, killing the unfortunate bastard that is standing on the other side. Also, if you spy something such as a glass ceiling and some other unfortuante sap on the bottom, you may shoot that glass ceiling and kill the guy standing under it.
Sound: One word my friends. EXCELLENT. As i said up a little ways, it gives us non surround sound owners a taste of what its like to have surround sound. Handguns sound like howitzers, grenades sound like rockets, rockets sound like nukes, the like. But, hey, its HOLLYWOOD.
Value: Only 9 missions, length of time depends on the skill level you have. In my opinion, its still worth the $39 plus tax youll have to scrounge up. Replayability isnt that great, but its still interesting to go back and destroy things once again.
Tilt: I still dont know what this means.......
When Criterion set out to make this game, they didnt have the impending shadow of EA over their shoulders, so they were free to create what they wanted. They wanted to make sure that the single player mode was the best that it could be, and they did. If they had a little more time to work on it, it wouldve most likely been the same with the multiplayer. Criterion also wanted to give you the feel that you were actually firing a gun, which most other games dont give that big of a feel. They had shot machine guns, and it was a riveting experience. So, they set out to make that experience come to life inside the game. In my opinon, they did that and then some.
BUY THIS GAME NOW. It may not be worth the $39 (hell, $20 is too much for a game in my opinion), but its definetly worth at least 6 hours of your time. You'll be glad you bought it.
