The game is beautiful graphically first of all. They really did a good job with the way walls crack and pillars crumble. There is quite a bit of detail just about everywhere. But after you get over the pretty factor and start to notice the gameplay is when problems will start creeping up and eventually slap you in the face. To start, you cannot choose the weapons you take into battle. So the gun you fall in love with on the previous level may not be available at all in the next. The A.I. is entirely too accurate. There was an instance where from the other side of this warehouse, with smoke and dust filling the air I was being drilled by a machinegun with easily a third of the shots hitting me. Many of the walls can be broken through, which in and of itself is pretty cool. Until you realize that you can't tell which ones, but the A.I. treats them as though they weren't there. I found this out when I stepped into a room to reload and get my bearings when I get blasted by two shotguns and a machinegun through the wall. Also, having snuck behind an enemy with a riot shield I expected to be able to blow him away, but instead when I began to fire, he raised his shield in front of him, mind you I'm still behind him, and is now blocking my fire. These things don't completely overwhelm the game but there are enough to definately grab your attention and irritate the snot out of someone like me. I preordered the game and had high expectations after playing the demo. It was a very big letdown for me. Sorry PS2 gamers, still no great FPS for our system.
