Intense online battles decked with an arsenal of personal gear to be played with, Blacklight is most enjoyable.
The game features 7 different game-modes, ranging from standard deathmatch and team deathmatches, to demolition, retrieval, domination, and a few others. The game plays fast, and has a hint of an Unreal Tournament vibe. The controls are easy to pick up and the shooting feels satisfying. One of Blacklight's bigger features are the goggles you are equipped with, that, when used, scan the battlefield in real-time, marking hostile targets, friendlies, and common objectives. It eliminates the need for a radar, and keeps the game fast paced so that the action can always be found. This features also greatly reduces the frustrations of campers and spawn-killing, which is always nice. The goggles also give you a sense of power over the battlefield, as if you can see all that is going on, even though you know that every other player has that same level of power. Overall it keeps the game interesting, and keeps you on your toes at all times.
As for in-game customization, Blacklight has a lot to offer to the player. Although character customization isn't quite as extensive as the weapon customization, building weapons is a lot of fun. As you level up in the game through a standard EXP system, you are granted new character armor, camouflages, and most importantly, weapon parts. Parts are unlocked for each type of weapon, ranging from assault rifle parts, to shotgun parts. This lets the player make a unique gun that they feel most comfortable with, and really adds a lot of personalization to their loadouts. Blacklight definitely does not fall short with its options on how the player wants kill others with their decked out guns.
To sum up Blacklight's online multiplayer in a nutshell, again, online multiplayer is fast paced and exciting, allowing teamwork to build an important role in winning matches. As for as game-play mechanics go, players can only absorb so many bullets until they go down, and headshots are always fatal. But players can still have their Rambo moments at times, Some shooter fans may be thrown off by this aspect, but I myself find it a lot more realistic and fun. The game has a built in host migration which is always a nice feature, and Blacklight's maps are well built and very enjoyable leaving a lot of replay value.
Blacklight is very addictive and building personal loadouts is also where it shines. The game is not Modernwarfare 2 or Halo 3, and I've noticed now a days that when shooters come out, most people have to compare it to MW2, which is silly, because it's either "not enough like MW2", or it's "too much like MW2". But back on topic, a good suggestion would be to download the free trial on the marketplace, and try the game out for yourself. The trial features most of the game's features and let's the player play in-game for 60 minutes.
