Firstly, I read that the game has crashing issues when it first came out. I played it on the Switch and it was supposedly unplayable until they patched it. Yet, the game crashed multiple times for me. I've never experienced that with any other Switch game I've played. I could still play for a decent amount of time most of the time before it crashes, but it crashed in pretty much every session at some point. So that's one thing that ruined my experience.
Besides that, I think the game's fatal flaw is how unbearably slow it is in every way imaginable. Blacksad (the main character) can only walk, and he walks very slowly. Every time you go to a new area, it takes way too long to load. Every time you click something, even if you already clicked on it, you can't exit out fast enough, it always has to play the dialogue for the thing you clicked every time, and it gets tedious to sit through. Everything about this game is just so slow, and it's impossible for me to say the game is good based on that alone. I've seen people practically beg the devs to patch in a running feature and the devs' response on one Steam thread was "John is a smoking detective, not an athlete"... which is ridiculous. I could run and I'm not an athlete. You don't need to be an athlete to run. John is also a cat, so that sounds even more ridiculous. It's as if the devs have never played a video game before.
On top of that, I find the dialogue to be awkward at times. There's long pauses that disrupt the flow of conversation. The quick time events aren't great. It's just poorly optimized overall.
Best thing about it is the story, which is actually pretty interesting, but other than that, it's just not a good video game.
