Blast Factor is a fun and addictive arcade shooter and a great way to spend your time waiting for more ps3 games.
This game reproduces a lot of common elements found in other arcade shooters of a similar type. The controls are easy to learn and the game is always throwing in new types of enemies for you to shoot. The 7 levels each consist on 7 cells to decontaminate and a bonus cell. One of the 7 cells contains a boss, which is always a variation of the same creature.
GRAPHICS: 8
The graphics of blast factor are what you would expect from an arcade title. The game can be played in any resolutions up to 1080p and has nice explosions. Little else can be said about the visuals except for the fact that they are a slight improvement over what you've seen in games like Geometry Wars
SOUND: 7
The sound in Blast Factor is, again, what you would expect in an arcade game. It has nice sounds for the explosions and gunfire and futuristic music, but nothing really stands out as "great" in the area of sound.
VALUE: 7
This game is $7.99 to buy from the Sony Store. If you add in the map pack you're spending $10.98. I think that $11 is a good deal for this game, as it will keep you busy until more games like Motorstorm and Lair start coming out. Even though this game is fun for now, I have a feeling that I won't be very entertained by it in a few months.
TILT: 7
Blast Factor is similar to Geometry Wars and other 2D arcade style shooters. That being said, it gets a good score for tilt mainly because it uses the SIXAXIS to make waves and the multiplayer pack allows you to play with your friends and/or make the game 2x speed.
OVERALL: 7.5
This game is fun, but not fun enough to occupy more than 10 or 20 hours of my time. If you are willing to pay $8-$11 for 20 hours of fun and you are sick of playing Resistance or Ridge Racer, this game should be a great way to keep you from breaking down for the next months as great titles start to release for the ps3.
