New fresh twist on an old idea

In essence Blast Factor is a fresh version of asteroids. Graphics of course updated but far from stellar. Biggest thing are the flashy explosions but in the end they become more of a trouble than a lighting fx. Sound is well almost non-existant. same set of explosion, shoot and whatnot sounds is there the whole time and its rather dull.
However the game does have a good part to it, and its the gameplay/replay value. 1st things 1st, the game is extremely easy to pick up, and the its arcadish feel and non-commitabilty make it a perfect pick-up and play game. Additonaly your scores rank online which if u dig the game will definitely push you to play more, change the difficulty levels etc.
Second thing is the enemy variety. It is really non-generic, and it provides for almost an element of a puzzle to it as you have to think thru your approach to the game.
Last but not the least is the multiplayer and the grudge match added in the expansion that makes it a good party game.
So, to sum it up for the price you pay, inspite of the lower scores, it should be a certain pick up and a good pass-time for taking breaks in between ur games of Resistance or Motorstorm or w/e u play!
