Despite some of the game's shortcomings, This is a fighter you must get for the PSP.

I'm not an ravid Bleach fan. In fact, the first 30 episodes are a joke. But i got to tell you. This is one of the best fighters i have played for the PSP.

I came to the game not knowing much about the series, not knowing what half of the characters were called, and not knowing the whole story. So bare with me on this.
Basic way to truly enjoy the game is in its "VS" mode. Character Battle is more of an Arcade kind of feel which dosent make much sense sometimes, and Mission mode is pretty much your story mode. Me, not knowing how to read Japanese or know what goal i must accomplish to meet the next level is, makes it quite hard. But other than that, sometimes you pull it off, and just shrug it off and keep going. As i said, the VS mode is truly enjoying and you will find yourself playing it over and over again. There's Time Attack, Survival, 100-man Survival, and Free Battle. Free Batlte (like in all modes) You pick one of the many characters from the Bleach series from Ichigo to Grimmjow, then pick their "Soul". As i like to put it Soul A, Soul B, and Soul C.
Soul A gives you the option to choose up to "helpers" who will attack your opponent ala KOF fighters, or give you power ups in attack, defense, etc. Soul B only gives you one partner and helps you out ala KOF again, and Soul C, you are on youre pretty much on your own.
The controls get some getting used to, but after what it seems like only 15 minutes, youll get it. Special attacks can be done by pressing Square and X, and the 2nd special can be done by doing Square and Circle. And they look great. the graphics are pretty top notch for a PSP game.
With all thats said, the game does come with shortcomings.
First of all it is extremely easy, even when put in the highest difficulty. Sometimes you will get a lot of "Perfect" victories, and sometimes while you charge your special meter, the AI will stay put and watch you charge up. I got up to 6 charges before the AI even made an attempt to attack me.
The menus are boring, and the presentation can sometimes get on your nerves with the monotone sounding "Caaan Youuu Surrviiive?".

But despite all of the shortcomings, This is a fighter you must get if you are a fan of fighting games on the go, and of course, a fan of Bleach.
A fighter you must get for your PSP.
