Screw hot routes and coverage shifts! All you really need is simple plays and broken bodies.
B:TL is basically a passing only game, arena football style. Running the ball is frustrating because you can only gain a few yards when you have to go for 30 yards for a 1st down. Defense is pretty basic; you’ll only run a couple of favorite plays that work often. The major addition to gameplay is Clash Mode, which is basically bullet time with footballs. It’s not really that important to use expect for receiving and possibly screwing up the timing of the other team.
Now to the fun stuff! The over-the-top violence this game has is pretty good. Although injuries seem random at times, it’s a ton of fun trying to put on dirty hits on your friends (in the game of course, do not try at home). The vulgar dialogue is actually well used and helps the game with its gritty view. This is definitely a multiplayer game as the career mode is rather short (playing by yourself isn’t that fun anyway).
If you’re looking for a different kind of football game or want a great arcade style multiplayer game, you cannot go wrong with Blitz: The League.
