A great football game even without the NFL License
User Rating: 9 | Blitz: The League PS2
In this game by Midway, The Blitz series has completely changed. Players on Fire no longer exist and the NFL License is nowhere to be found. This is a gritty representation of football. You have made up teams being put on steroids when a player receives an injury. The game has the traditional modes of exhibition and a career mode called campaign. In campaign mode, you create a team and customize the uniforms and the players you pick. There are 3 divisions that you must play through with each ending in a championship game. In game scenes often occur that depict various problems for the players such as going to jail or going out with a cheerleader. The gameplay kind of resembles past Blitz games. Just like before, turbo exists but the players don't run at super mega speed. There are icons you can get for scoring a TD, breaking a tackle, etc. Getting these icons fills up a meter. Once the meter is full you can unleash bone crushing hits and automatic passes. This may seem like a different version of Blitz but it is still enjoyable. The only problem that I have with this game is that it suffers some long load times. This problem is only minor and does not make the game bad.
