Madden has been Blitzed

First off, let me tell you that I am not a football fan per se, I don't follow the NFL at all and I barely check out the activities of the CFL (yes, I am Canadian), but when I saw what Blitz The League was offering, I thought I'd give it a try, because it seemed to be very innovative and fun.

Well, let me say that I do not regret my purchase at all, this game really rocks. The best part of this game is the complete and total management that you have over your football team, from choosing the staff, to naming the players, to selecting the cheerleaders' outfits, everything is in there.

The gameplay is pretty basic, you have to select your plays, drive down the field in 4 downs or less and score a touchdown or kick a field goal or if you're the defense, prevent the latter... but that's where the similarities end. This is a rough and tough football game, with violence a'plenty and coarse language galore. The moves are hard hitting and satisfyingly brutal and rewarding. The sound is on par (music gets on my nerves after a while though) and the graphics are good. The replay value is tremendous, with the online being stellar, the quick play being pretty good and the story mode being alright.

All in all, Blitz The League is a great football game and beats Madden games by far and wide, in my honest opinion, of course.
