User Rating: 7.8 | BloodRayne XBOX
Gameplay: BloodRayne's story features a sexy half-human half-vampire girl named Rayne, that's searching for her father. But most of the time, she's doing missions, such as stopping the Nazis, which is a German organization trying to awake a demon to destroy the world. More story twists come as you play further in the game. The game is a third person action game, along with other elements. BloodRayne combines hack and slash gameplay with third person shooting elements. There are other elements in BloodRayne, such as biting your enemies for blood, which heals your health, and some special modes, such as slow motion mode, sniper mode, and aura mode, which is used to see through walls for your enemies. The gameplay itself is very unique and very fun to enjoy. The game may feel a little repetitive at times, but if you don't mind some repetitive gameplay, BloodRayne is a very fun and cool game to play. The game has 3 acts (areas). The first act takes place in a swampy area to get you used to the gameplay. All you do here is get rid of these spider-looking monsters and get rid of affected humans. This mission takes about an hour to complete. After that, you play the biggest act in the game. Act 2 takes place in a military base held by the Nazis. You kill officers in the base and do some side quests to go further. This mission takes more then two hours to complete, unless you're really good at the game. After that, you proceed to Act 3, which takes place at a dark gothic-looking castle. This is where the game finishes up, as you try to kill the demons and the Nazis. After you beat the game, that's pretty much it. All you do afterwards is play it again, or use cheats on your levels to have some more fun. The game, overall, has a very unique gameplay that offers up enjoyment, but at times, gets a little repetitive. Graphics: Sure, some of the graphics are a little mediocre, but the game does a very nice job capturing its gothic and war atmosphere. The character models are pretty good and nicely detailed, but some of their faces are a little blocky. The game features good light-effects and captures large environments nicely. The game's frame rate runs at 30 FPS, which is solid speed. The frame rate only slows down when there’s more then 5 characters on screen at once. The CG Cutscenes are probably the best part of the game's graphics. The CG cutscenes are highly detailed, clear, and look realistic. Unfortunately, the CG cutscenes only come every great once in a while. Overall, there are a few semi-disappointments with the games graphics, but the game still looks pretty good nevertheless. Sound: The game's music has a mix of a war feel, and a gothic feel. The music fits in the game perfectly, but it can get a little repetitive sometimes. The game's sound effects are realistic and are also welcomed for the game. The game's voice acting, on the other hand, has mixed feelings. The main character, Rayne, has a good voice and has some entertaining lines throughout the game. However, some voices, mostly the Nazis, have mediocre voice acting. But the poorly-done voice acting shouldn't hurt you too much while watching the cutscenes and hearing the dialogue. The soundwork, bottom line, is decent. Conclusion: During your first time playing the game, you're in for a lot of action and some intense fun. With its stylish gameplay and capturing atmosphere, BloodRayne features some great fun for any action fan. The game may feel repetitive for some people, so BloodRayne isn't for everyone. The game does not feature some pure enjoyment, such as multiplayer mode and some other extras. If you're willing to play through the stylish levels full of action and interesting elements that might be repetitive, then BloodRayne is worth buying. Pros: -Fun hack-slash and third-person shooter gameplay -CG cutscenes are great -Huge levels Cons: -BloodRayne is sometimes repetitive. -Some mediocre voice-acting.
