I've not got what I paid for, have I?

User Rating: 6.5 | Blue Toad Murder Files: The Mysteries of Little Riddle - Episode One PS3
I paid almost £10 about a month ago for the first two episodes of the 'Blue Toad Murder Files', trailers I had seen made it look a very original game, created by the makers of 'Buzz!'.

As a fan of 'Buzz!' I was confident that it would be a fantastic game. It appeared that that was going to be the case, when you start up the game you are welcomed by a comical narrator introducing you to the four cartoony characters that you can use to solve the mysteries that await.

I found the game especially enjoyable in the multi-player mode, where up to four players can try to find out who committed the murder. It was not quite so enjoyable in single-player mode although still has that engaging story-line.

I would have liked for Relentless Software to ensure that the players would have been more involved in the game. Unfortunately, the base of it consists of a selection of videos compiled together which allow the players to decide who they think committed the murder. It can be quite refreshing when you are asked some questions or given a mini-game/puzzle to complete.

There is also not much replay value. Once you have completed a mystery its effectively gone. If you complete it again, the same person has committed the murder and all the mini-games have the same answers etc.

To summarise, here are the pros and cons of, in my opinion, a fairly disappointing game:

Good:
Funny narration and characters
Engaging murder story-lines
Episode 3 is free for a limited period of time
Great multi-player mode
Trophies to earn

Bad:
Expensive for such a short game
Single-player can become boring
No replay value
Not challenging enough

So, a disappointing game for how much you have to pay, but might, at a pinch, be worth getting whilst Episode 3 is available for free.
