Boing! Docomodake is a very Japanese puzzler that surprisingly made its way stateside! At $14.99, it's a good value too.

If you have played Mario Vs. Donkey Kong: March of the Minis (or the DSi ware title, Minis March Again) you will find this game to be familiar territory. The goal of the game is to control Papa Docomodake through the levels using Mini Docos to help solve the puzzles. Unlike in M vs DK, however, the minis are fully controllable. You also gain more throughout the game to an apparently unlimited number (you can play through past levels and get more minis but there isn't any real need to do this.)

Papa Docomodake is off trying to rescue his family members, who have suffered some mishaps. You will explore everywhere from a Bat's Cave to a fantasy forest in your quest to reunite your family. There are a total of seven zones in all and each of them adds new game play elements.

The music loops throughout the levels but never gets grating or annoying because the tunes are rather relaxing. The graphics are pretty, especially the little scenes telling the story. As you play through the game, the money you get can be spent on creating a gallery of level images and sounds.

There are some small grammatical errors but the game's focus is more on game play so these are excusable. Some of the puzzles do get tedious because it is very easy to screw up and make it so you have to start over.

Over all, I was impressed by the little budget title. The box even has a nice three-dimensional slip case. I recommend it if you think mushrooms are cute, if you like platform puzzlers or if you just want to try something a little different!
