Delivering fun and entertaining multi-player, and a decent amount of options. "Bomberman 93'" is a great game
release of "Bomberman Act: Zero" for the Xbox 360. The game was a
complete abomination that represented everything that the lovable
character wasn't. Complete with a terribly redesigned gameplay formula,
and the elimination of the lovable and cute cartoony look of the games
past. "Act: Zero" created an amazing fall from grace for the series,
that made it hard to believe that the series could ever recover from.
Luckily, "Bomberman 93'", which was arguably the best game in the
"Bomberman" franchise. Has now been released for the Nintendo Wii's
Virtual Console. Complete with a great set of options and the fun and
enjoyable multiplayer that the series has been known for. "Bomberman
93'" is the perfect game to let off some of the hurt that fans are
still left with from "Act: Zero".
In "Bomberman 93'", the game series is brought back to the series
roots. While, the series has never been known for the single player
aspect. "Bomberman 93'", has a decent amount to it that will still
deliver a nice diversion for fans or the average player alike. The
gameplay consists of the classic bomberman gameplay. You, and a set of
other enemies are pitted against each other in a arena. Complete with
blocks and other objects. You must blast your way threw to each enemy,
wipe them out, and continue to the next stage. The single player is
rather uninteresting as far as challenge. Mainly because the enemies
are very dumb, and easy to kill without any problems. However, there is
enough on its bones to deliver enough fun for people who are
interested. This is due to the games many different modes, that consist
of "Normal Mode", "Battle Mode" as well as some different ways you can
change up the settings.
Every fan of the series knows that "Bomberman" is about multiplayer.
And "Bomberman 93'" is pure "Bomberman" in that respect. With full on
multi-player modes, and ways to change the settings to your liking, it
will definitely be a game you will come back to if you have friends
that are into some quick and enjoyable fun. "Bomberman 93'" also has
support for up to five players, and con be played with a Wiimote,
classic controller, and a standard Gamecube controller. All of which
feel perfectly comfortable. However, its also worth mentioning that if
you are planning on playing with fie players you will need to play with
at least on Gamecube controller. As the Wii has support for only four
players via the Wiimotes.
Presentation wise, "Bomberman 93'" is complete with all of the cartoony
and cute graphics that the series has always been known for. There cute
and charming, despite some of the problems that the game has with is
graphics. While the game looks absolutely great on the Turbograpfx-16 back
when the game originally released. Its emulation on the Wii's Virtual
Console is a little blurry, and some of the characters look a little off
from there original look. However, only people who look for it will
notice these little differences. And its hard to imagine any casual
player to notice them. The audio is also quite good, and stand up
decently as well as the graphics. While nothing in it is rather
memorable, its cute, charming, and rather poppy. The only thing that is
different is the absence of some of the sound effects.
Nintendo has always touted the Wii, as a system that would focus more on multi-player. As well as getting more non-gamers into video games. "Bomberman 93'" is the perfect game that delivers on that mantra. And it does it better then any game on the Virtual Console at this moment. Now, Nintendo is charging 6$ bucks for a download of "Bomberman 93'". That’s a real bargain considering what it offers. Fans of the series will definitely love what they'll find in the game. The single-player will deliver a nice diversion, the multi-player will keep you coming back, and all-in-all its a nice addition to your Wii console for a cut throat price.
Delivering fun and entertaining multi-player, and a decent amount of options. "Bomberman 93'" is a great game for fans of the series, as well as anyone that wants some quick and enjoyable fun for a low price.
