If you have played any MMO and wondered what it would be like as a shooter, then play BL2 and realise the horror.

I actually enjoy "stylised" graphics. I cant remember how many times I got called a "fanboy" for defending WoW's graphix as not cartoony but in keeping with the franchise. So it is with BL2, the graphics fit the franchise and in my opinion are one of the best and most appealing parts of the game.rnSadly for me this is about where the good news begins and ends.rnrnBorderlands 2 plays like a small scale MMO when you have other players involved and like a standard FPS when you solo. Playing with others is in fact a little worse than an MMO because most MMO's have put in mechanics to stop people ganking items and loot that dont suit their class and playstyle. So you can bang away for hours only to see a gun you could have used go to someone who will never use it simply because they grabbed it first. Thats just lazy programming.rnrnThe notion that really irks me the most though is what I call "the math war". This idea that you have to have numbers floating above everything to show whether you did 303 points or 304. zzzzzzzzzzz.... sorry I nodded off for a minute there. I mean if you cant depict damage with modeling adjustments in a game with stylised grafix, then again..... your just not trying.rnrnAs for the overall gameplay. I lasted about 3 hours in BL1 before becoming totally bored with the whole concept. Shoot, loot, repeat. I got sucked into BL2 by the wild claims of something more in this one, sadly its just the same. I gave it 10 hours+ to be fair, but 9 hours of that was spent yawning and sighing at the stop start nature of the gameplay and the tedious nature of the looting. Open box take 2 steps, open box, on and on and on. Each box revealing a gun or object that often was no better than the one you were using and when balanced for your upgraded skills, you could probably go through the game with your original gun and not notice any difference.rnrnBoss fights in every single case could be easily hacked by standing in certain spots, causing enemies to just stand there, or run around in circles, or get stuck on things. I dont recall a fight that presented any sort of challenge in terms of strategy and tactics, just quantity of ammo.rnrnI guess if you are new to gaming and new to MMO's then this could actually be a fun game. But if your not 13 and you didnt get your PC or console last tuesday.... then move along folks, there is truly nothing to see here.rnrn7.0
