I'm a huge Borderlands fan, so I went into this game with my optimism and expectations higher than ever before. And overall, this game just about satisfied my hungry taste buds. From a gameplay standpoint, this game delivers. There are spontaneous lag spikes in some areas, but that's about as far as my complaints go. The variety of guns that you have at your disposal is immense, with each gun showcasing different visuals and different abilities that make them just as cool to use as the last gun. The bosses in this game are flashy and distinct from each other, which in turn allows the player to flex their abilities and weapons to defeat them. The one big complaint that I have with this game is the story. In all honesty, the story is trash. (Minor Spoiler) 95% of the time your character isn't involved in any of the cutscenes that take place, which for me is a huge deal-breaker since I'm a sucker for story-driven games. Now I'm not gonna sit here and say that past Borderlands games have had flawless storylines, but at least they tried to keep a connection between the player and the characters in the game. Borderlands 3 completely throws that connection out the window and instead excludes the player from those important cutscenes that could have otherwise turned out to be different if the player was present. With a more cohesive story and a stronger connection between player and character, Borderlands 3 would be THE game to play in 2019. However, the story sinks the ship considerably, and that's why my score is average rather than above-average. Happy Vault Hunting!
