Great fun, but there are some issues.
RPG-FPS hybrid that delivers the promise in spades. This is how it's done, and I hope that game developers take notice. I mean, there are lots of things which are arguable, but again, I'm not trying to be nit-picky. Most of the "flaws" simply don't take away from the game experience, and are mostly a matter of opinion.
I do have a couple beefs with this game, firstly the lack of antialiasing (in a cell shaded game no doubt). Acceptable on a console perhaps, but not on a PC game. I get a good sense of how amazing the game could look, but somehow, jagged black lines all over the place do in fact detract from the visual experience.
The other beefs are the ending, and playthrough time. Perhaps the playthrough time wouldn't have felt so short if the ending hadn't been so terribly wrong. I won't spoil it, but the ending is horrid in more ways than one. Even if there is a sequel planned, it doesn't explain how horrible the ending is.
However, with all that said, the game was for me at least, quite stable, immersive, and impressive in story (minus the ending), and in gameplay. The FPS action is solid, and really stands up well to most any other FPS. Vehicle steering wasn't great (the most glaring console carry-over), but I adjusted.
Would have given an 8.5 if antialiasing had been included.
Would have given a 9 if antialiasing and a better ending were included.
Would have given a 9.5 if (above) and the game had been longer.
The rest is nit-picking, but that happens with most every game.
