Gamespy again...Stick with Left 4 Dead (2)

This game is utterly boring without multiplayer. Same as my problems with Call of Duty 4 and World at War, I can't host games on my network, just join them on Gamespy. I guess this isn't a problem with Steam games that use their own servers. I kind of don't understand why there is host on Left 4 Dead since he doesn't ultimate do anything besides start the game anyway which leads to alot of sitting around in Lobbies. Borderlands has a true host, which I hate since I can't be one. I get tired of getting kicked by non-communicating hosts, even when I was sure I wasn't doing anything wrong. After about 15 minutes I give up, try the single player, but it's boring as hell. Just a shooter with bland action. Even the multiplayer matches I have played no one talks and aside from tougher enemies, no real reason to stick together.
They could have had something had they just ripped off Left 4 Deads formula and ran with it, but instead, what they have is something similar to Gears of War co-op, but far less entertaining.
