Monotonous, simplistic grindfest
The combat is extremely simplistic. It's mostly just a run-and-gun shooter. Nothing like the duck-and-cover schemes you find in more recent shooters. The quests themselves are almost all kill quests where you fight through a bunch of skags or bunch of bandits to get to one big skag or one big bandit.
There are a ton of unique weapons in this game, but your inventory is very limited. You can only carry a handfull of stuff. So you will have to constantly decide whether to go with the gun with slightly higher damage or slightly higher firing rate. Running back to town/vendor to buy/sell is painfully slow.
The classes themselves are a nice idea, but basically all you get is one special ability per class. And that special ability can only be used once every few minutes. It ends up being a rare special instead of something that drastically affects gameplay.
In a way, this game reminds me of the old Everquest-type grind fest. But even Everquest had more interesting classes, abilities, enemies, and locations.
